Lawyers in Paralimni – Review – Women’s Equality – Completed on 7th May 2011.
Women’s equality is still very much lagging behind with in Europe.
We did an article previously on women’s equality and a year down the line very little has changed.
Cyprus is ranked in the top 3 EU countries for the lowest level of women’s equality this is very disappointing.
The EC Gender Equality department have devised a plan that will hopefully change this disturbing scenario.
The EC Gender Equality department want to help women throughout the EU on a much wider scale also. From equal pay, equal gender opportunities, through to gender violence issues.
The number of females graduating from university out weigh the number of males, so where are they all? Well they obviously do not stick around here in Cyprus because they will not achieve their deserved success. So one can only presume they set off for countries worthy of their presence.
The EC Gender Equality department want to introduce an EU quota making it so that companies must employ a certain percentage of women on to their boards or in higher decision making positions.
If this is made compulsory by law then yes women have a chance. If not they still have a very long fight ahead of them. At the same time even if it does become law there will still be many male dominated companies who will be hard pushed to change their policies and will fight it to the very end.
Anyhow the males have not done a good at keeping the economies intact or running the countries for that matter so having women making some serious decisions is not going to hurt in the slightest as things can only get better they really can not get any worse don’t you agree?
We at A&G Kouzali law firm promote women’s equality employing 9 women and only 1 male!
