Cyprus offers the quickest, most assured route to citizenship of a European country through the Cypriot citizenship by investment programme. A minimum amount of €2.5 million investment is required. The Investment can be in real estate, land development and infrastructure projects, in financial assets of Cypriot companies or Cypriot organizations, in Alternative Investment Funds or financial assets of Cypriot companies licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySec) or a combination of aforementioned. If the investor decides to invest in residential/real estate then the amount of investment required is reduced to €2 million (plus VAT and any other expenses).

Cyprus is unique in its offering of citizenship within just 6 months of such an investment. This grants a Cypriot passport and citizenship of an EU country, allowing the freedom to work, travel, study and live anywhere within the EU including countries such as Germany, France and the UK (provided that remains a member of EU). The amount of €2 million must be retained for a period of three years.

Applicants must meet certain criteria and fulfil the terms and conditions outlined by the Government of Cyprus i.e to have a clear criminal record and depending on the type of the investment, relevant documentation will have to be submitted as part of the application.

There is no language requirement, medical test or interview for citizenship applicants.

Prior to naturalisation, the applicant must possess a residency permit in the Republic of Cyprus for a period of at least six months.

Applicant must possess a permanent privately-owned residence in the Republic of Cyprus, the purchase price of which must be at least €500,000 (excluding VAT).

The citizenship applicant may also add dependents to the application including his/her spouse, children (up to the age of 18 or between 18 and 28 if they are financially dependent on the main applicant).
