A&G KOUZALI CYPRUS PROPERTY LAWYERS WEEKLY REVIEW ON LARNACA AIRPORT

Every month we expect to bring you a detailed review on all subjects regarding Larnaca Airport. We will share with you the advantages and disadvantages along with new issues and progression of the new airport.

After 3 years in the making, for all Cyprus Communities, the arrival of the new airport in Larnaca has caused a great deal of excitement.  On the 10th November 2009 the new airport opened its doors to 56 passengers from Amman, the first to fly into the new airport and 156 passengers to Athens, the first to fly out of the Airport.  Cyprus Airways were the first company to use the airport with all other major flight companies to follow in the week commencing 17th November 2009.

It has been reported that the Airport, situated at the end of the motorway in Larnaca has cost, in the region of 640-650 Million Euros and can now hold approximately 7.5 million passengers per year.  Cyprus has two brand new Airports, with the other being in Paphos that can now proudly be compared to some of the best airports in Europe.

The Airport is easily accessible from the motorway, once inside the airport grounds, it is very easy to find parking and all required terminals. The Airport boosts extra parking, extra check-in desks along with self service check-in desks, extra departure gates, and plenty of shops and restaurants for everyone’s taste.  It is no longer required to get on the shuttle to the planes as there are now passenger boarding bridges.  All around the airport you will find contemporary and historic pieces of art by different artists, transforming the Airport in to a stimulating, yet relaxing place to be.

There is still plenty of development to come over the next several years, adding to the new Cyprus Airport, for example a hotel will be built, a shopping mall and petrol stations. Along with expansion to the parking and terminal buildings and the old airport will be incorporated in these developments.

We feel this amazing new airport is a big step into the recovery of the Cyprus economy. We feel it will bring more business and tourism to the beautiful island of Cyprus along with more revenue and more employment.
