All public documents issued abroad and which will be used in Cyprus, must be duly certified, as per the Law ratifying the Convention on the abolishing the requirement of legalization for Foreign Public Documents of 1972 (Apostille stamp).

When the said documents are issued by countries which are not part of the Hague Convention (Apostille), then they should bear diplomatic authentication following the steps below.
1. Certification of the document at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuance country.
2. Certification of the signature of the issuance country Foreign Affairs’ officer from the consular authority of the Republic in the issuance country.
3. Certification of the signature of the Republic consular authority’s officer in the issuance country, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus (Certifications Department).
