The measures introduced by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus for the combat of the spread of Covid-19 were praised by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control who were informed on 10th of April through a videoconference by the Cypriot Ministry of Health, Mr Constantinos Ioannou.

Measures are in the correct direction to limit the further spread, as mentioned by Dr Andrea Ammon who also pointed out that we cannot discuss yet for minimizing or relaxing the measures as this should be happening in steps.

As mentioned by Dr Ammon, Cyprus is one of the few countries executing tests through tracing and the general population. Dr Ammon also emphasized the importance of the 20,000 tests to be done by 20,000 employees who remain in their duties during the pandemic, mentioning that the results will be also used by ECDC.
