As you know, Cyprus is a small island, because of this, Cyprus has very limited to the number of utility suppliers it has for its customers.

As an owner of Cyprus property, you will need to arrange a connection to utilities once you take delivery of the property.

Electricity is solely supplied by the electricity authority of the Republic of Cyprus. You receive your electricity bill every 2 months and payment can be made either by JCC, DIRECT DEBIT or attending the electricity authority directly.

There is no mains gas supply {at present – although we expect this to change in the near future}.

Water is supplied from the local municipality to each Cyprus Property. All houses have water tanks on the roof to ‘store’ an amount of water for use (in the event of water shortages or cuts in the very hot summer weather).

For telephony services there is a wider variety of providers for fixed telephony, mobile telephony and internet:

  • Cyta is the original provider.
  • Prime tel
  • Epic (formally MTN)
  • There is also a variety of ‘local providers’ such as cosmos, ghofi etc.

You will select the ‘package’ which is beneficial to you and your bills are issued monthly and payment can be made either by JCC, DIRECT DEBIT or attending the electricity authority directly.

If you are unable to transfer the utilities yourself your Cyprus Lawyer can assist you in doing this on your behalf.
